Memorials: Directed to the family

Alice Delores Falk one of nine children of Mary Evelyn (Braden) Will and Wallace August Will, was born on August 1, 1927, at her parents’ farm home near Carson. Alice’s mother died when she was only eight months old. When Alice was two years old, her father married Fern Dunlap. Alice grew up in the Carson area and graduated from Carson High School in 1945. Following high school, Alice spent several months in California working in a defense plant. She returned and on November 23, 1945, married Donald Fred Falk at the Methodist Parsonage in Hiawatha, Kansas.

Alice and Don made their home on the farm near Carson where Don farmed. Their marriage was blessed with four children, Nancy Louise, William Don, Barbara Jo, and Edward Alan. In 1951, Don started to follow the wheat harvest and began custom harvesting. In the early years, the entire family would follow Don. Alice was responsible for all the meals and son Bill would help in the fields. Eventually, Alice gave up her duties as head cook and stayed home to care for their young family. Don continued doing custom work until 1968 and then stayed home to farm. Alice worked at Sneider’s Furniture in Council Bluffs, and in Carson, Club 92, the Perky Pantry, and Ruth’s Style Shop which she later purchased and named “Alice’s Fashions.” She ran the shop for 20 years and retired in 1990. In June 1991, Alice and Don moved into Carson. They had been married 53 years at the time of Don’s death on February 21, 1999. Alice continued to live at her home in Carson and continued working for Tanya Donney at The Corral restaurant for several years.

Among Alice’s enjoyments were spending time with her family and friends, quilting and sewing, and tending to her yard and flowers. She enjoyed bowling on a league for many years and watching sports, especially NASCAR racing.
