Alvin Sobbing

Alvin Sobbing, 70, of Auburn, NE passed away in motor vehicle accident on Thursday, May 8, 2025 south of Nebraska City, NE. Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 27, 2025 at the Loess Hills Funeral Home in Glenwood with Pastor Luke Kuenzli officiating. Burial will be in the Glenwood Cemetery. Loess Hills Funeral Home in Glenwood is caring for Alvin and his family.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family will direct the memorials.

Alvin Lee Sobbing, 70 of Auburn, NE, formerly of Glenwood, IA, tragically passed away on Thursday, May 8, 2025, from a motor vehicle accident south of Nebraska City, NE.
Alvin was born on November 4, 1954 in Red Oak, IA, the son of Jesse Alvin and Joan Delores (Palin) Sobbing. He graduated from high school and farmed throughout his life.
Alvin enjoyed farming and fishing. He loved vegetable gardening and was a friendly and familiar vendor of fresh, local produce, at several area Farmers’ Markets.
Alvin and Amy (Caddell) Sandlin were joined in marriage on May 27, 2022 in Nemaha Co, NE.
Alvin was preceded in death by his father Jesse; sister Shari Finchem; and stepson Andrew.
Alvin is survived by wife Amy; his children, Jesse Sobbing and wife Brandi of Malvern, IA, Kenneth Sobbing of Silver City, IA, and Kaylee Lilyhorn of Glenwood; 5 grandchildren; mother Joan Sobbing of Glenwood; siblings, Terry Sobbing and wife Joy of Red Oak, IA, Connie Borkowski and husband Kevin of Harlan, IA, and Nancy Schoening and husband Randall of Glenwood; nieces and nephews; other relatives; and a host of friends.
