Arthur Woodrow Campbell, Jr, one of five children of Rose Ann (Bourque) and Arthur Woodrow Campbell, Sr., was born on December 15, 1951 in Oakdale, Louisiana. Always known as "Toby", he grew up in Malvern, Iowa and attended Malvern High School through the 11th grade. Toby became a member of the National Guard. He worked in Red Oak, Iowa as a welder at Douglas & Lomason Company, a maker of auto seats and interior trim parts.
Toby and Sandra Kaye Stogdill were married on January 11, 1971 at the United Methodist Church in Hastings, Iowa. They made their home in Hastings and their marriage was blessed with three children, Rachelle Sue, Renee' Nicole, and Ryan Lee.
Toby was a member of the Hastings United Methodist Church and served on the church board of trustees. He was a member of the Hastings Volunteer Fire Department, served as Assistant Chief, and was a recipient of 15 year service award. Toby also served six terms on the Hastings City Council.
Toby loved to fish. He enjoyed dancing and listening to country music. Toby especially loved attending his children's activities and spending time with his friends.
In September 1991, Toby was severely injured in a train-auto wreck and although he spent the rest of his life as a quadriplegic, it did not diminish his great sense of humor and zest of life. Toby was a devoted husband, a fantastic dad, a wonderful grandpa, and a good friend to all.
Toby and Sandy were married 41 years when Toby passed away at their Hastings home on December 25, 2012, at the age of 61 years and 10 days. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wonderful in-laws, Herb and Thelma Stogdill, who loved and thought the world of Toby; and brother Steven Campbell.
