Austin Daniel Clayton, 36 of Mineola, IA, passed away on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at CHI Health Creighton University Medical Center – Bergan Mercy in Omaha, NE.
Austin was born on June 5, 1989, in Omaha, Nebraska, the son of Holly Anne (Clayton) Greiner. He grew up on a farm outside Silver City and graduated from Treynor High School in 2009. His passion for agriculture took root early in life, where even as a teenager he showed maturity and perseverance. He furthered his education at Southeast Community College in Milford, Nebraska, graduating from the John Deere Technical program, specializing in diagnosing, servicing, and repairing John Deere agricultural equipment. He was a former volunteer for the fire and rescue services for Oak Township and a member of Ducks Unlimited. Austin extended his generosity to the community, where he was always ready to give his time, talents, and heart.
Austin’s life was defined by his quiet strength, selfless compassion, and the profound mark that he left on everyone who knew him. His steadfast dedication resonated throughout the years, whether in the hours spent behind the wheel of a sprayer or in the time shared with friends. His life was a tribute to the simple, meaningful things: enjoying music, BBQ, off-roading, boating, good conversation and even better company. Heembodied an authentic spirit, standing firm in his beliefs and lighting up a room with his humor.
Austin walked through life beside his closest friends, never missing a chance to celebrate their most meaningful moments and stood by them with unwavering loyalty during their hardest pains. He cherished moments spent with his family, especially the unconditional love he received from his nieces and nephews, whose pure hearts brought comfort and joy to him and his family. Austin was a son, brother, friend, and neighbor whose love remained an enduring part of his life, a steady presence even when unspoken.
Austin was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Dale Clayton and Lawrence Greiner. He leaves behind his parents, Holly and Don Greiner of Silver City, IA; his siblings, Amanda Jones (Michael) of Manhattan, KS, Rebecca Blum (Paul) of Omaha, NE, and Ryan Greiner of Henderson, IA; his grandparents, Beth and Kenny Heitman of Mineola, IA, and Belva Greiner of Silver City, IA; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and many cherished friends.
Austin lived fully, fueled by purpose and always chasing the joy of shared laughter. Though he is no longer with us, his spirit will live on in the fields he tended and through many memories he leaves behind.
