Funeral services for Betty Neppl will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 13, 2025 at the Loess Hills Funeral Home in Glenwood. Visitation with the family will be held two hours prior to the funeral beginning at 9:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Martin Chapel Cemetery north of Pacific Junction, IA.

Elizabeth “Betty” Neppl, 88, of Glenwood, Iowa, passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on Sunday, February 9th, 2025. Betty, daughter of Hildagard (Vanerdewyk) and Nicholas Loew, was born April 13th, 1936 in Carroll, Iowa. Betty spent her childhood with her sisters, enjoying her mom’s homemade cinnamon rolls and sour cream raisin pie. She loved spending holidays with her family and grandparents, especially the 4th of July when she would get a quarter from her dad. At Christmas time, she always got a doll, a coloring book and a new pair of flannel pajamas, which she appreciated so much and said she never wanted anything else.

On November 19, 1955 she was united with Hank Neppl in marriage. Before getting married, Hank and Betty enjoyed cruising in Hank’s Hudson car and square dancing. Betty’s dream in life was to be a wife and mother, and her and Hank were blessed with seven children - David, Daniel, Pamela, Tamara, Jeffrey, Henry and Mary. She loved her children with all her heart, even when she had to chase them around town on foot because she didn’t drive. She enjoyed bowling in leagues and playing bingo and taking trips with Hank and all the kids. She worked at the Glenwood State School for 20 years, where she gained many long lasting friendships. After she retired, she enjoyed spending time with Hank, watching television and giggling at his ridiculous antics. She has been anxious to reunite with him since his passing in 2022.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Hank, her son Jeff, her infant son Joseph, grandsons Jake and Ronnie, granddaughters Jamie and Oaklynn, sisters Irma, Rita, Esther, Buster, Helen and brother Bob. Betty is survived by her children: David (Cheryl) of Glenwood, Iowa; Daniel Neppl of Colorado Spring, CO; Pam (Terry) Chambers of Glenwood, Iowa; Tammy (Mike) O’Meara of Glenwood, Iowa; Henry (Korrena) Neppl of Pacific Junction, Iowa and Mary (Roger) Greiner of Glenwood, Iowa, her sister Phyllis Luft, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
