Betty L. Schroeder

Betty L. Schroeder, the daughter of A. Clifton McGrew and A. Mabel (Green) McGrew, was born on June 24, 1916 in Seward, Nebraska. She graduated from Seward High School in 1934 and attended the University of Nebraska to prepare for a career as an elementary school teacher and school librarian. She received a Teaching Certificate from Nebraska State Teachers College and a Library Science Degree from Iowa State University in 1961.

Betty and Lloyd G. Schroeder were married at Custer County, Nebraska in 1937 and settled in the Thurman, Iowa area where she taught school. Their marriage was blessed with three sons, Jack C., Larry L., and Guy L. In 1961, they moved to Ankeny, Iowa and later retired to the Lake of the Ozarks. They had been married 39 years at the time of Lloyd's death on August 3, 1976.

Betty passed away in Austin, TX on January 12, 2008, at the age of 91 years, 6 months, and 18 days.

She was preceded in death by her parents, A. Clifton McGrew and A. Mabel (Green) McGrew; husband, Lloyd Schroeder; son, Jack Schroeder; daughter-in-law, Diann Schroeder; brother, Frank McGrew and his wife Helga; sister, Nelda Chrisman; and brother-in-law, Orville Jones.

Betty is survived by her sons, Larry Schroeder of Sun City, AZ and Guy Schroeder of Los Angeles, CA; daughter-in-law, Claire Schroeder of Jackson, MN; sister, Carol Jones of Nebraska; and brother-in-law, Bud Chrisman of California; 8 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
