Beulah Rose

Beulah Evelyn Rose, one of four children of Beatrix Mae (Rollins) and Carl Adolph "Charlie" Schnoor, was born on January 26, 1916 on a farm north of Oakland, Iowa. Beulah grew up near Oakland and attended schools in Carson and Oakland. She graduated from Oakland High School in 1932 and received her normal training certificate.

Beulah and Laurence Milton Bird were married on March 30, 1934 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Their marriage was blessed with five children, Carolyn Valdeen, Gary Leroy, Roger Lynn, Patricia Louise, and Linda Sue. They divorced in 1966.

Beulah and Delbert Boyd Rose were married on October 26, 1966 in Papillion, Nebraska. For nineteen years, Beulah enjoyed living at Arrowhead Park in Neola, Iowa while Delbert served as park officer, before moving back to Carson in 1986.

Beulah and Delbert had been married 24 years when Delbert passed away on April 23, 1990. Soon afterwards, Beulah moved to the Gran Donia Apartments in Macedonia until October 2007, when she moved to Oakland Heights Assisted Living in Oakland.

Beulah enjoyed being a farm wife and was a busy mother of five children. She began work as a quilter at Schneider Upholstery in Council Bluffs, until her retirement after eleven years. She was a member of the Macedonia United Methodist Church and the Carson Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed crocheting, embroidering, working crossword puzzles, and playing cards.

Beulah passed away on December 12, 2011 in Oakland, at the age of 95 years, 10 months, and 16 days. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Mae Schnoor; husband Delbert Rose; daughter Patricia Mallory; son-in-laws, Louis Loring and Robert Smith; sister Henrietta Morris and husband Lee; brothers, Arthur Schnoor and Donald Schnoor; stepdaughter Karon Eckert; step grandson D. Daniel (Bauman) Eckert; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Peterson and Barbara Jacobs; and brothers-in-law, Fay Rose, Clarence Rose, Floyd Rose and wife Lela, Earnest Rose and wife Eleanor, and Gene Rose.

Beulah is survived by her children, Carolyn Loring of Macedonia, IA, Rev. Gary Bird and wife Madolyn of Fort Dodge, IA, Roger Bird and wife Mary Ann of Lampe, MO, and Linda Trede of Council Bluffs; son-in-law Henry Mallory and fiancA(c) Jane Dirmeyer of La Vista, NE; stepsons, Lonnie Rose and wife JoAnn of Harlan, IA, and Douglas Rose and wife Cheryle of Carson; sisters-in-law, Delores Schnoor of Council Bluffs, Nina Rose of Oakland, Larene Rose of Osceola, IA, Laura Rose, and Sidney Rose, both of Carson; brother-in-law, Frank Rose and wife Dixie of Carson; 13 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; 25 great-great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

A memorial fund has been established.
