Charles L. Cheyney

–

Glenwood, Iowa

Charles L. Cheyney, age 65, died January 26, 2007 at his home in Winner, SD. He was born on August 29, 1941 in Glenwood, Iowa to Woodrow and Inez (Powles) Cheyney. He attended grade school in rural Pacific Junction and high school in Glenwood, Iowa. Charlie married Nyla Holzwarth on April 15, 1976.

Charlie spent several years working various jobs in Iowa and Nebraska prior to working for Hickey Trucking. After driving many years for Bob Hickey, he joined Johnson Trucking. He enjoyed truck driving (always taking responsibility in maintaining his truck) but most of all enjoyed all his co-workers and people he met. Charlie treasured all of his friends; people were important to him! He enjoyed life to the fullest. Charlie took pride in his children and grandchildren, and enjoyed them so much! He loved being Grandpa and Poppy to them all.

Nyla and Charlie enjoyed life's simple treasures. His keen sense of humor was a gift. Life's challenges became their treasures as the challenges helped in the appreciation of all blessings. God gave us the one of a kind unique gift - each other.

Charlie is survived by his wife Nyla of Winner SD; twin daughters - Teresa (Paul) Heaselgrave of St. Phillips, Barbados and Lisa (John) Baker of Nebraska City, NE; son Randy (Dawn) of Colonial Beach, VA; mother Inez Cheyney of Pacific Junction, IA and his brother David Cheyney also of Pacific Junction; nine grandchildren: Natasha, Adria, Zachary, Karly, Jordan, Alexis, Hannah, Jonathan and Ryan, several nieces: Jamie, Heather, Kim, Tomi, Julia and Hannah and nephews: Andrew, Jason and Matthew and several great nieces and nephews.

He was proceeded in death by his father, Woodrow and his grandparents.

Charlie was one of a kind! Happy trails, St. Charles!

Celebration of Life services were held on Monday, January 29, 2007 at 3:00 P.M. at the United Methodist Church in Winner, SD.
