Daniel "Petie" Peterson

Daniel Paul Peterson, one of five children of Louise Anne (Snyder) and Paul Frank Peterson, was born in Oskaloosa, Iowa on September 29, 1935. Petie, as he was known by his family and friends, moved to the Glenwood State Hospital School in Glenwood, Iowa in 1938 along with his twin brother David. Petie and David were inseparable until David's death in 1956. Petie continued to live at the Glenwood Resource Center where he became a favorite of the staff. He later moved to Park Place in Glenwood where Petie spent a good number of his adult years. In 2001, Petie moved to Northcrest Care and Rehabilitation Center in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Regardless of where Petie lived his infectious smile, love for blowing bubbles, and ability to become the center of attention drew people to him. Petie died at Northcrest on November 9, 2004, having attained the age of 69 years, 1 month, and 10 days.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Charles Peterson, Les Peterson, and his twin brother David Peterson. Petie is survived by his sister Deanna Peterson of Council Bluffs and niece Debi Lynn Juhl, her husband Mark and their children Kristi, Jason, and Jessica all of Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Petie touched the hearts of many people throughout his lifetime and will be missed by all.
