Donald J. Frerichs, 82, of Malvern, IA, passed away Monday, October 21, 2024 at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 25, 2024 at the Loess Hills Funeral Home in Malvern. Visitation at the funeral home will be held two hours prior to the service beginning at 9:00 a.m. Burial with military honors will be in the Malvern Cemetery. Loess Hills Funeral Home in Malvern is caring for Don and his family.

OBITUARY
Donald John Frerichs, 82 of Malvern, IA, passed away at his home Monday, October 21, 2024.
Don was born on July 9, 1942 in Eugene, OR, the son of John Mietz and Eileene Josephine (Petersen) Frerichs. He graduated from high school and enlisted in the United States Marines, serving from February 1960 to August 1964. He worked as a service manager for Jim Hawk Truck & Trailer until his retirement.
Don and Janice Elaine Anderson were united in marriage on July 9, 1966 in Treynor, IA. They were blessed with four daughters, Dawn Marie, Angela, Rebecca and Patricia.
Don enjoyed living on their acreage south of Malvern, farm equipment, and gardening. He enjoyed watching stock car racing, playing board games, and loved spending time with his family. Don never met a stranger. He was a wonderful son, brother, uncle, father, grandfather and great grandfather and a good friend to all who knew him.
Don was preceded in death by his parents; grandson Brennan Kennedy; sisters, Elsie Hubbard, Mary Tracey, and Donna Rupp; and brother Alvin Frerichs.
Don is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Janice Frerichs of Malvern; daughters, Dawn Marie Lynch and husband Travis of Council Bluffs, IA, Angela Thomas and husband Patrick of Tabor, IA, Rebecca Reents and husband Brian of Eureka, MO, and Patricia Kennedy and husband Ryan of Gaylord, MI; 11 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren (with one on the way); brothers, Robert Frerichs and wife Peggy of Longwood, FL, and Walter Frerichs of Des Moines, IA; sisters, Judith DeLap of Wichita, KS, and Evelyn Steinhauser and husband Dan of Kearney, NE; nieces and nephews; other relatives; and a host of special friends.
