Glenwood, Iowa
Donna Marie Lovely, 67, of Glenwood, IA, passed away Saturday, June 7, 2025 at her home, surrounded by the love and care of her family.
Donna was born on October 2, 1957 in Danvers, MA, one of three children of Frank and Lorraine (Foster) Kish.
Donna and James Harold Lovely were united in marriage on November 7, 1976 in Seabrook, NH. They made their home near Glenwood where they raised Greyhounds. Donna ran the Greyhound Adoption Program for many years where she helped retired racers find their forever home, making forever friends along the way.
Donna was fiercely devoted to her family. She rarely missed a sporting event, proudly cheering on her children and later her grandchildren. She loved scouting teams and sending in her game-time predictions. She was always her family’s #1 fan.
Donna found joy in the simple things: coffee, sewing, gardening, decorating, staying up to date on politics, family dance parties and a good game of ping pong. She was famous for her Whoopie Pies and her unforgettable spaghetti and meatballs.
She had a gift for making everyone (and every animal) feel at ease, turning every house into a warm and welcoming home, all while staying true to her New England roots.
Donna was immensely grateful for all of the Nurses, Drs, and CNAs who cared for her along the way. She was a warrior in her health journey and adored amongst hospital staff.
She was truly The Best.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents and her brother-in-law, Norman Perkins.
She is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, James Lovely of Glenwood; her children: Jim Lovely and wife Courtney of Council Bluffs, IA, Chris Lovely and wife Ally of Overland Park, KS, and Ashley Hazen and husband Scott of Glenwood; eight beloved grandchildren: Aleczander, Kalob, Edisyn, Leota, Julian, Kirby, Calvin, and Mia; her brother Robert Kish; sister Diane Perkins; and many dear relatives and special friends.
