Eric Maxwell

Eric Maxwell, 75, of Treynor, IA passed away at his home on Saturday, June 10, 2023. A time of remembrance will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 15, 2023 at the Loess Hills Funeral Home in Glenwood. Private family burial with military honors will be at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Adel, IA. Loess Hills Funeral Home in Glenwood is caring for Eric and his family.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be given to the Veterans organization of the donor's choice.

Eric Maxwell, son of Alonzo Robert and Fern Olive (Snyder) Maxwell, was born on January 16 ,1948 in Thurman, IA. He went to school in Randolph and Tabor, graduating in 1966. After being drafted into the United States Army and serving during Viet Nam he returned home to Tabor. While in the service, he earned the Army Commendation Medal of Valor. He worked at National By-Products in La Platte, NE and the Glenwood Resource Center until his retirement in 2010.
Eric married Carol Maddocks on July 30, 1972 in Silver City, IA. The couple was blessed with two children Jason and Julie and three grandchildren Brennan, Evan, and Addison. His grandchildren were the light of his life.
Eric is preceded by his parents; brothers, Claude (Lonnie) and Paul; sister Edith; brothers in law, Red Smith, Wayne Rice, and Bruce Maddocks; and nephews, Gene (Lonnie) and Scott Schaper.
Eric is survived by his wife of 50 years, Carol Maxwell of Treynor; son Jason Maxwell and his wife Tonya and their children, Brennan and Addison, all of West Des Moines, IA; daughter Julie Frey and her husband Jared and their son Evan, all of Treynor, IA; brothers Bill, Phillip and Bobby Maxwell; sisters, Daisy Rice, Sharon Higgenbotham, and Sue Hammons; other relatives and a host of many special friends.
