Ervin E. Crouch

Ervin Eugene Crouch was born in Glenwood, Iowa on October 18, 1928 and entered into eternal rest on April 12, 2011 at Hospice with Heart in Glenwood.

Ervin was raised in Glenwood and graduated from Glenwood High School in 1947. He served his country in Korea with the army during the Korean War as a radio operator between the front lines.

Ervin married Josie Johnson on July 4, 1956. During the early years of their marriage, Ervin and Josie farmed at Henderson and Malvern, Iowa. In 1961, Ervin became an employee for the city of Glenwood. In 1966, he accepted the position of Utilities Superintendent for the town of Malvern, the position he held until retiring in 1993. After retirement, he was employed as the Director of Transportation for Bluffs Run Casino.

Ervin was a member of the Malvern Baptist Church, Masonic Lodge, Malvern Volunteer Fire Department, Malvern City Council and Planning and Zoning Committee, American Legion and VFW organizations.

Some of his greatest joys were spending time with his family, building a cabin with help from his entire family, fishing near Park Rapids, MN, and daily morning coffee with friends.

Ervin was preceded in death by grandson Cameron William Blackburn; parents, Charles and Mary (Hice) Crouch; and siblings, Selma Crouch, Fred Crouch and Ila Bolton.

Ervin is survived by wife Josie of Malvern; children, Susan and husband Stephen Blackburn of Glenwood, LeAnn and husband Howard Peterson of Malvern, and Ryan and wife Lisa (Boyer) Crouch of Grand Island, NE; siblings, Ralph Crouch, Marilyn Wiley, and Carol Kiersch; many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. Grandchildren, Shay, Shaw, Scott, Corey, Cameron, Jory, Loran and Abby were the joy of "PA's" life. Ervin was a kind, quiet, soft spoken, gentle man and will be missed by those who loved and knew him.
