Ethel Alice O’Meara, 96 of Glenwood, IA, passed away Sunday, June 2, 2024 at the Glen Haven Village in Glenwood.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 7, 2024 at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church in Glenwood. Burial will be in the Glenwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 6, 2024 at the Loess Hills Funeral Home in Glenwood. Loess Hills Funeral Home in Glenwood is caring for Ethel and her family.

OBITUARY
Ethel Alicia O’Meara, 96 of Glenwood, IA, passed away Sunday, June 2, 2024 at the Glen Haven Village in Glenwood.

Ethel was born on April 14, 1928 in Greeley, NE, the daughter of Jeremiah and Alicia (Smyth) Galvin. She graduated from the Spalding Academy in Spalding, NE.
Ethel and James William O’Meara were married on February 21, 1953 in Omaha, NE. In 1970 they moved to live in Glenwood. James passed away on August 8, 1997 after a long illness.
Ethel was a member of the Holy Rosary Church. She worked as a residential treatment worker at the Glenwood State School until her retirement. She enjoyed listening to music, watching western movies, and collecting religious memorabilia. Ethel enjoyed going out to eat with friends and socializing.
In addition to her beloved husband James, Ethel was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter Jamie; sisters, Mary Boylan and Joan Archer; and brothers, Ambrose, Frank, and Jerimiah Galvin.
Ethel is survived by her children, Meri (Mitch) Reitzer of Thornton, CO, Gina (Andrew) Cook of Longmont, CO, Pat (Barb) O’Meara of Concord, NC, Rita Younkers of Des Moines, IA, Tim O’Meara of Glenwood, Robert O’Meara of Huntington Beach, CA, and Mike (Tamara) O’Meara of Glenwood; 13 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; brother Cleatus (Peggy) Galvin of Omaha; nieces and nephews; other relatives; and many special friends.
