Frances Mae Thaller

Frances M. Thaller, 83, of Malvern, passed away July 2, 2013 at Hospice with Heart in Glenwood. Private family services are being held.

Frances Mae Thaller, the oldest of five children of Rita Mae (Williams) and Roy Robinson, was born on October 14, 1929 in Silver City, Iowa. Her family lived in Silver City until moving to Malvern, Iowa. She started school in Silver City and graduated from Malvern High School with the Class of 1948. Following school, Frances began work at Collins Drug Company at the soda fountain and helped with book keeping.

On September 9, 1949 she married Robert George Thaller, son of Georgia (Connlley) and Ralph Thaller, at the Malvern United Methodist Church. They made their home in Malvern and their marriage was blessed with a daughter Roberta Jean.

Frances was a homemaker and mother. In 1971, she began work as a cook for the Malvern School District and worked there for 20 years, until her retirement in 1991. Frances enjoyed tending to her flower garden. She loved her little town of Malvern and on her walks she could always be seen doing her share of beautifying the town. She also made sure every neighborhood cat and dog had food and water. Frances was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, and friend.

Frances passed away at the Hospice with Heart in Glenwood, Iowa on July 2, 2013 at the age of 83 years, 8 months, and 18 days. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Kenneth "Bud" Robinson, Jack Robinson, and Bernard "Gee" Robinson.

Frances is survived by her husband of 63 years, Bob Thaller of Malvern; daughter and son-in-law, Roberta and Vyto Vainiunas of Omaha, NE; brother and sister-in-law, Vernon "Fib" and Joyce Robinson of Omaha, NE; sisters-in-laws, Judy Robinson of Sylmar, CA, Katheryn Robinson of Red Oak, IA and Liz Robinson of Clarinda, IA; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

Memorials may be given to Hospice with Heart or Malvern Cemetery Association.
