Glenwood, Iowa
Frank Cogley, one of ten children of Dora (Clayton) and Robert Elonzo Cogley, was born at his parent's home west of Glenwood, Iowa on October 27, 1913. Frank grew up in Glenwood where he attended school and lived his entire life. In 1909, his father had started an ice business known as the Cogley Ice Plant where Frank and his brothers and sisters worked. Frank enjoyed working with the large ice blocks, which were cut from the pond in the winter and stored in the ice house until spring. The ice was then delivered by a horse and wagon to the stores and homes in Glenwood. In 1940, lockers and butchering were added to the plant and the Cogley Ice House and Locker continued to operate under Robert Cogley and his six sons. After years of operation, the locker and ice plant closed and Frank retired. He continued to live at his Glenwood home until 1994 when he moved to the Glen Haven Home.
Frank died at Glen Haven on June 23, 2004 at the age of 90 years, 7 months, and 27 days. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Walter, Ernest, Glen, Wesley, John, Roy, and Jess Cogley; sister Ruth Cogley; and nephew Dwayne Cogley and great nephew Douglas Cogley.
Frank is survived by his sister Dorothy Alberts and her husband Lawrence of Glenwood; niece Debra Lincoln and her family of Glenwood and great niece Barbara Stoll and her daughter Rachel of Santa Clarita, CA.
