Frieda Josephine Hall, one of two daughters of Frederick and Anna Marie (Swanson) Hall, was born in Malvern, Iowa on December 29, 1929. She attended school in Malvern and graduated from Malvern High School in 1947. Her parents owned and operated a shoe shop in Malvern where they sold and repaired shoes for a number of years.
Frieda was always known for writing jingles. She wrote many articles for the school newspaper. During the school year of 1945-1946, Frieda wrote the words for the Malvern school song to the tune of Eastern Illinois (Eastern Loyalty). After her high school graduation, Frieda attended four years of college in Vermillion, South Dakota where she obtained a journalism degree. She moved to Denver, Colorado where she lived for a number of years while working for an advertising agency. Frieda enjoyed living in her beloved mountains of Colorado.
Frieda lived life to the fullest. She was known for her good sense of humor and was very proud of her Swedish heritage. She cooked authentic Swedish Christmas dinners that included baked bread, homemade sausage and lutefisk with her friends. She was a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Frieda was an avid reader, enjoyed classical music, public radio and the arts. She also loved the outdoors, horseback riding and fly-fishing, which at the time, was an uncommon hobby for a woman. A number of poker games were also enjoyed by Frieda and her friends. Frieda was considered "a person who was ahead of her time". After her brother-in-law, Harold C. Moshier, died in Texas in 1990, her sister, Marion, moved to Colorado to share a home with Frieda in Arvada.
Frieda died at St. Anthony's Central Hospital in Denver, Colorado on July 2, 2007 at the age of 77 years, 6 months, and 3 days. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother-in-law Harold, and her sister Marian Elizabeth (Hall) Moshier, who died in 2001.
Frieda is survived by cousins, Rod Hall and his wife Doris of Plymouth, Minnesota, Allen Hall and his wife Joyce, Virginia Hall, all of Malvern; good family friend Bill Miller and his wife Marge of Denver, Colorado and other friends.
