Gladys Tudor

Gladys Tudor, one of four children of Dent and Elizabeth Hites, was born April 8, 1918 in Hastings, Iowa. Gladys became a member of the Hasting Methodist Church at a very early age. She attended school in Hastings, Iowa where she graduated from the Hastings High School in 1935. She furthered her education at the Van Sant School of Business in Omaha, Nebraska.

Gladys was in the Women's Auxiliary Army Corp (WAAC) in World War II. She took her basic training at Ormond Beach, Florida and was stationed at Daytona Beach, Florida.

On July 3, 1943, Gladys and Ernest Tudor were united in marriage in Bunnell, Florida. Their union was blessed with one son, Robert Dent, and two daughters, Patricia Alice and Juanita Evelyn. Gladys was employed at the Continent Egg Corporation, Malvern, Iowa from June 1955 until April 1960. She operated the Dinner Bell CafA(c) in Hastings, Iowa from January 1, 1962 until April 30, 1964. Gladys was employed at the Glenwood State Hospital School from September 1964 until she retired in 1983. She spent her "free" time volunteering for RSVP, the cancer society, was a member of the Hastings town council for many years - including being mayor pro-tem. Gladys was very active in the Hastings Methodist Church until she physically was unable to actively attend. She lived with her daughter Pat and son in law Phil the last four years of her life until she went in peace August 4, 2003.

Gladys was preceded in death by her husband Ernest, her brothers Elmo Hites of Hastings Iowa and Ralph Hites of Malvern Iowa. Gladys is survived by her children, Robert and Joyce Tudor of San Antonio Texas, Pat and Phil Bullard of Omaha, Nebraska and Evelyn Tudor of Omaha, Nebraska; her brother Ray Hites of Hastings, Iowa; two grandchildren, Elaina and Bobby, and one great granddaughter Hailey; nieces and nephews, cousins and many loving and caring friends.
