Ira Aistrope, 68, of Glenwood, IA, passed away on December 15, 2021 at UNMC in Omaha. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, December 20, 2021at the Loess Hills Funeral Home in Glenwood. Burial will be held in the Glenwood Cemetery. Visitation at the funeral home will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 19, 2021. Loess Hills Funeral Home in Glenwood is caring for Ira and his family.

OBITUARY
Ira Dee Aistrope, 68 of Glenwood, IA, passed away on Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at UNMC in Omaha, NE.

Ira was born on November 12, 1953 in Council Bluffs, IA, the son of Ira and Mildred (Bastow) Aistrope.

Ira and Rita Ann Hopkins were united in marriage on November 14, 1980 in Papillion, NE. They were blessed with three children, Jennifer, Matt, and Brett.

Ira worked many jobs including: in the travel industry, for the post office and was a customer service agent for Blue Cross Blue Shield before retiring.

Ira was a big fan of professional wrestling, football, basketball and baseball. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan. He had a lifelong love of travel. Ira enjoyed watching tv shows, listening to music, and spending time with his family and grandchildren.

Ira and his family were blessed in 2020, when he received a new kidney at UNMC. He was so grateful to reach this milestone and looked forward to new adventures in the future.

Ira was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Maurice Aistrope and Marvin Aistrope; and half-brother Elton Long.

Ira is survived by his beloved wife of 41 years, Rita of Glenwood; daughter, Jennifer Hokanson (Erich) of Port Byron, IL; sons, Matt Aistrope of Ralston, NE, and Brett Aistrope (Chasity) of Plattsmouth, NE; grandchildren, Jamie, Logan, Bryson, and Zayden; other relatives and a host of friends.
