Funeral services for Jacqueline “Jacque” Smith, 95 of Exira, IA, formerly of Macedonia, IA, will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 29, 2024 at the Macedonia Community Church of Iowa (formerly Macedonia United Methodist Church).
Visitation for the family to greet family and friends will be held prior to the funeral, beginning at 11:00 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Macedonia Cemetery.

OBITUARY by family
Jacqueline Ann “Jacque” Smith, formerly of Macedonia, IA, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 21, 2024, at the Exira Care Center in Exira, IA at the age of 95 years old.
Jacque, the only child of Avery and Helen Mae (Umphreys) Blank, was born on May 16, 1929, grew up in Red Oak, IA, graduating from Red Oak High School in 1946. She attended cosmetology school in Des Moines, IA and then worked in Red Oak.
She married Charles Wesley Peterson on June 27, 1948, at Randolph Field in San Antonio, TX. To this union they had a son Dennis and a daughter Diana. In later years Jacque returned to Red Oak to raise Denny and Diana and worked at Union Carbide for 9 years.
Jacque then married Donald L. Smith on July 8, 1962. To this union they had a son Reid and a daughter Kim. Along with Denny and Diane, they made their home in Macedonia.
Jacque was a member of the Jolly Dozen Club, Sigma Gamma Club, Macedonia Fire Bells, Lady Shriners of the Tangier Shrine in Omaha, NE, Macedonia Centennial Committee, and former member of the Macedonia United Methodist Church. She played cards with the card club. She also worked on various elections at the Macedonia City Hall. While she was in Red Oak, she was in a bowling league and also in a bowling league in Oakland, IA.
She spent many Sunday afternoons at the home of her mother-in-law, Lois Smith, along with sisters-in-law, Barbara (Smith) Scherle, Beverly (Smith) Boileau, and Catherine (Smith) Carder, doing their busy fingers and fancy do-er’s needle work project.
Jacque is preceded in death by her husbands, Wesley Peterson and Donald L. Smith; son Denny Peterson and daughter Diana (Peterson) Menzie; daughter-in-law Shelly (Langer) Smith and daughter-in-law Nancy (Pritchard) Smith Bond; and great granddaughter Destyni Starr Swanson.
Jacque is survived by her son Reid Smith of Exira, IA and daughter Kim Smith of Alexandria, VA; daughter-in-law Paula (Pilling) Peterson of Davenport, IA, son-in-law Bill Menzie of Springfield, VA; grandchildren, Amy (Steve) Christensen of Atlantic, IA, Steven (Tammy) Mahan of Atlantic, IA, Ryan Peterson of Davenport, IA, Tonya (Don Brownsberger) Mahan of Lewis, IA, Kyle (Breanna) Peterson of Bettendorf, IA, Michelle Mahan of Atlantic, IA, Adam (Abbey) Smith of Elliott, IA, and Caleb (Rebekah) Smith of Atlantic, IA; 22 great grandchildren; 12 great great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; special friends, Shirley Hartman and Donna Cole; other relatives and a host of friends.
