Janice Stanton

Janice Stanton, 87, passed away on February 10, 2026 at the Heritage Ridge Assisted Living in Bellevue, NE. Memorial Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 28,2026 at the First Lutheran Church in Papillion, NE.
Janice Marie Stanton, daughter of Hugo and Eunice (Grau) Ahrendsen was born on September 14,1938 in Manning, IA. She graduated from the University of Iowa School of Nursing. She worked as the school nurse in Bellevue for 25 years before her retirement, she loved caring for children, especially those with asthma. She spent countless summers working at Camp Super Kids, a summer camp for kids with asthma.
Janice was married to James L. Stanton for 62 years. She was a military wife who enjoyed traveling overseas with her husband. Some of her favorite places she visited were Turkey, the Holy Land and Italy. She enjoyed spending time with her family, attending her grandson’s baseball and hockey games, loved being out in nature, visiting national parks and especially bird watching. She had a gentle heart and was extremely devoted to her family.
Janice is preceded in death by her parents and sister Alice Hoffmeier.
Janice is survived by her husband James; daughter Carolyn Holman and her husband Frank; son Christopher Stanton; grandsons Keith Stanton, Jase Stanton and Jaden Holman; brother Jon Ahrendsen and his wife Becky; other relatives and a host of many special friends.
