Kort L. Kallsen Obituary (1961

Kort Landon Kallsen, one of four children of Ernest Kent and Sandra Carole (Hutcherson) Kallsen was born at Denver, Colorado on January 16, 1961. Kort attended school in Kersey, Colorado and graduated from the Platte Valley Junior/Senior High School in 1979. Shortly after graduation, Kort moved with his family to Goodland, Kansas where he farmed with his father and brother. While in Goodland, Kort met Cindy Ilene Becke of Lake City, IA. Cindy was a nurse at the Northwest Kansas Regional Center. Kort and Cindy were married on December 19, 1983 in Goodland. Kort and Cindy moved to Bellevue, Nebraska where Kort worked as a line mechanic at the Dial Corporation. Their marriage was blessed with four children, Joshua, Kaleb, Katie, and Jay. The family moved to an acreage east of Carson, Iowa in 1993, and Kort began work at the Co-op in Oakland, Iowa. He then took positions as a line mechanic with Oakland Foods and then with Plumrose USA in Council Bluffs, IA. Kort was a member of the Southside Christian Church of Council Bluffs. He enjoyed caring for his home and lawn, and loved to spend time with his children and to watch their many sporting events at school. Kort was working as a scale technician for R&V Scale Service of Omaha, NE when he died in Sioux City, Iowa on April 30, 2003. He had attained the age of 42 years, 3 months, and 14 days. Kort was preceded in death by his father Kent Kallsen and brother Ty Kallsen. He is survived by his children Josh Kallsen and his wife Callie and their children Paige and Jacey; Kaleb Kallsen, Katie Kallsen, and Jay Kallsen all of Carson; mother Sandra Kallsen of Hong Kong, SAR China; sisters Lori McDade and husband Ralph of Austin, TX and Wendy Davy and husband Leonard of Peoria, AZ; aunts and uncles; other relatives and friends.
