Ladonna Lucille Deitchler

LaDonna Deitchler, 89, of Mineola, IA passed away on December 30, 2015 at the Risen Son Christian Village in Council Bluffs, IA. Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 2, 2016 at St. John Lutheran Church in Mineola with Pastor Robert C. Johnson, officiating. Inurnment will be in the Mineola Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday, January 1, 2016, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Loess Hills Funeral Home in Glenwood, IA.

LaDonna Lucille Deitchler, one of 12 children of Elias and Anna Lavrensa (Retland) Johnson, was born on May 5, 1926 on a farm in Montgomery County, Iowa.A She was baptized at the Strand Lutheran Church in Corning, Iowa and graduated from the Glenwood High School in 1944.A

LaDonna and Calvin Peters Deitchler were united in marriage on June 3, 1945 in Glenwood, Iowa.A The couple made their home on the Deitchler family farm near Mineola, Iowa and their marriage was blessed with two daughters, DeAnna Kay and Marcia Louise.A

LaDonna was an active member of St. John Lutheran Church in Mineola, a member of the choir for 40 years, and had taught both Sunday and Bible School.A She was a member of the Legion Auxiliary, served on the Mineola Community Center board and volunteered at Jennie Edmundson Memorial Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa.A LaDonna enjoyed dancing with Calvin, quilting and china painting, played cards for 60 years with the Card Club, and was one of the original group who started the German Heritage Supper.A She was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, and grandmother.A Her family was her pride and joy.

LaDonna passed away on December 30, 2015 at the Risen Son Christian Village in Council Bluffs, at the age of 89 years, 7 months, and 25 days.A She was preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law William "Bill" Goy; sisters, Gladys Johnson and Pearl Danielson, and brothers, Earl Johnson, Orville Johnson, Kenneth Johnson, Wesley Johnson.

LaDonna is survived by her beloved husband of 70 years, Calvin Deitchler of Mineola; daughters, DeAnna Johnson and husband Keith of Mineola, and Marcia Goy of St. Joseph, MO; grandchildren, Alicia (Tyler) Morgan, Dlo (Brian) DuVall, Lana (Adam) Horoho, Bree (Scott) Frye, Kyle (Rachel) Johnson; great grandchildren, Blake, Ridge & Chase Morgan, Ashlynn, Calvin & Lauren DuVall, Jack & Ryan Horoho, Colby & Kaden Frye, and Timothy, Elizabeth, Sarah Ruth & Mark Johnson; sisters, Elzine Jamison of Kansas City, MO, Lola Hasselquist of Malvern, Orla Jean (Roger) Jackson of Henderson, IA, and Vernita (Norman) Kruse of Mineola; brother Wayne Johnson of Corning, CA; extended relatives; and a host of friends.
