Larry Frain

–

Glenwood, Iowa

Larry Vernon Frain, the oldest of three sons of Elenor Louise (Sommerfeldt) Frain and Roland Lester Frain, was born on April 18, 1943 at Spring Creek near Carson, Iowa. Larry attended school in Carson and following high school worked for area farmers and drove a truck for Brockmans. He later worked for Swift and Company in Omaha, Nebraska. At age 19, he was critically injured in an auto accident, breaking his back, and eventually losing both his legs.

Larry lived with his parents, Roland and Elenor, in Carson following his accident. He adapted to life and enjoyed doing leather work, talking to truck drivers on his C.B. Radio, and using his computer to write the histories of the Frain Family and the Albright Family. Following the death of his father, Elenor continued to care for Larry. They spent the summer months on the farm and winter months at their home in Carson.

Larry passed away unexpectedly on December 28, 2008 in the emergency room of the Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He had attained the age of 65 years, 8 months, and 10 days. He was preceded in death by his 18 year old brother, Ronnie Frain, and his father, Roland L. Frain.

Larry is survived by his mother, Elenor L. Frain, and his brother, Jerry Frain and his wife Cinda, all of Carson; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
