Larry Dean Gibson

Larry Dean Gibson, one of six sons of Marcella Belle (Bowyer) and Ralph Thomas Gibson, was born near Aberdeen, Washington on March 3, 1948. Larry suffered a brain injury during birth which severely disabled him. The family moved to Winterset, Iowa in 1949 to live near Marcella's family. Marcella and Ralph later divorced. On March 10, 1952, Larry moved to the Glenwood State Hospital School in Glenwood, Iowa. Larry enjoyed his new home where he loved the attention he received from staff and residents. He especially enjoyed listening to music.
Larry moved to the care of On With Life at Lacey Hall on the campus of the Glenwood Resource Center. Larry died September 29, 2005 at On With Life at the age of 57 years, 6 months, and 26 days. In addition to his father Ralph Gibson, Larry was preceded in death by four infant brothers; and stepfather Willard R. Field.
Larry is survived by his mother Marcella Field and brother Mark Gibson both of Council Bluffs, Iowa; other relatives and friends.
