Lawrence N. Greiner one of nine children of Nicholas and Mary Bauer Greiner was born on January 15, 1933 in Portsmouth, Iowa. He attended rural country school up until the 8th grade. Following school he worked construction for Henningson Construction Company in Atlantic. He worked until he was drafted in the Unites States Army where he served during the Korean War. When Lawrence returned from his military duties he moved to Chicago where he went to a Diesel Technical School. After he finished with school he moved back to the Council Bluffs area where he worked for the city bus company in Council Bluffs. A couple years later he took a job working at International Harvester in Omaha.

On June 2, 1956 he married Belva Jane Cheney in Imogene, Iowa. The couple started farming in the Red Oak area in 1959. In February 1967 the couple moved to the farm northeast of Silver City. Lawrence and Belva were blessed with six children, Randy, Rodney, Donald, Debra, Delinda and Roger.

Lawrence enjoyed tractor pulls, watching NASCAR, enjoyed watching stock car races in Corning. He was very articulate about the farm and his lawn, always making sure it was in pristine condition. Most of all he was a devoted husband, loving father and caring grandfather and great grandfather.

Lawrence was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, Knights of Columbus and Silver City American Legion.
