A Celebration of Life, directed by family, will be held Saturday, January 18, 2014 at the Malvern Community Building from 4 to 7 PM. A memorial fund has been established at the Malvern Trust & Savings Bank. Loess Hills Funeral Home of Malvern assisted the family with arrangements.
Linda Ann (Hammers) Scott, the third of six children of Joseph Eldon and Betty Jean (Dresher) Hammers, was born on March 12, 1960 in Hamburg, Iowa. She grew up in the Tabor and Thurman, Iowa areas and attended several elementary schools. Her family moved to Malvern, Iowa in 1974 where Linda attended the Malvern Community High School.
Linda and Wayne Steven Scott were married on June 20, 1978 in Pacific Junction, Iowa and were blessed with two sons, Steven James and Jeremy Eldon. The couple divorced in 1982.
Linda held various jobs through her life, CNA and CMA at nursing homes, Glenwood Resource Center, Gummy Bears Factory in Corning, Iowa, a chicken ranch in Clearfield, Iowa, and drove semi for Wal-Mart, Family Dollar, and other businesses. Linda retired due to declining health and made her home with her sister Phyllis Buckner in Malvern.
Her pride and joy were her six granddaughters and she loved spending time with her family and friends. It meant a lot to Linda to mention that she raised Amber Renee Milsap (to Linda, she was so precious) and that she was the only mom for Amber for eleven years and loved her as her own, still do and always will.
Linda had recently entered the Hospice with Heart Home in Glenwood where she lost her battle with cancer on January 12, 2014, at the age of 53 years and 10 months. She was preceded in death by her father Joseph Hammers; mother Betty Hammers Bare; and brother Joseph Keith Hammers.
Linda is survived by her sons, Steven Scott and wife Tabitha of Grand Island, NE and Jeremy Scott of Red Oak, IA; six wonderful granddaughters, Adrianna, Danielle, Phoenix, Rayvan, Willow, and Leilani; brothers, Marty Hammers of Malvern and Roger Hammers of Coin, IA; sisters Phyllis Buckner of Malvern and Joanne Bullock and husband Shelby of Ellston, IA; several nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
