Louis E. Miller

–

Glenwood, Iowa

Louis Earl Miller, the older of two sons of Kelbert Carson and Ruth Marie (Gee) Miller, was born near Tabor, Iowa on September 20, 1931. Louis attended elementary school in Tabor and high school in Randolph, Iowa. In 1950, Louis enlisted in the United States Navy and served eighteen months at sea on the USS D.D. Gurke during the Korean Conflict. Louis and Nina Jane Anderson of Malvern, Iowa were married at Glenwood, Iowa on July 18, 1952, and lived in San Diego, California while Louis served shore duty and completed his military obligation.
They moved to a farm near Thurman, Iowa where Louis operated a milk route for Nelson's Dairy. They later moved to Hillsdale, Iowa and then to Malvern, Iowa where he became a mechanic for Breeding and Benton Implement. Their marriage was blessed with two children, Marsha Jane and Randall Alan. Randy died in 1978 after a heroic battle with cancer.
Louis later established his own farm implement repair shop where he prided himself in honest repairs and ethical service to his many customers. Louis began acquiring land to farm adding a parcel here and there as they were available. The need for good communications between his home and mobile farm operation led to the establishment of a business partnership with his son-in-law, Jim Hanson. The business, M & H Sales sold and installed Citizen Band radios. Louis later expanded the business to Homelite Chain Saws and finally a dealership for new and used travel trailers. Space by space, Louis and Jane established Miller's Trailer Court. While in Malvern, Louis served on the Malvern City Council and helped wherever needed for community events. He enjoyed neighborhood children, listening to the police scanner, traveling with their travel trailer, and his dogs Duke and Ollie.
In June 2003, Louis and Jane moved to Wahoo, Nebraska to live closer to their daughter and son-in-law, grandchildren, and their great grandson.
Louis died at the Saunders Medical Center in Wahoo on Sunday, June 10, 2007 at the age of 75 years, 8 months, and 20 days. In addition to their son Randall, he was preceded in death by his parents.
Louis is survived by his wife of nearly 55 years, Jane of Wahoo; daughter Marsha Hanson and her husband Jim; granddaughter Ada Jane Maly and her husband Kurt and their son Keaton Joseph Maly, all of Wahoo and grandson Quinn Randall Hanson of Lincoln, Nebraska; brother Lowell Miller and wife Shirley of Tabor, Iowa; other relatives and friends.
