Mardrana Lee Hofmeyer

Mardrana Lee Hofmeyer, 47, of Glenwood, passed away on August 18, 2014 at the Jennie Edmundson Memorial Hospital in Council Bluffs. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, August 22, 2014 at the Glenwood Resource Center Chapel with Reverend Dan Siepker officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the memorial service. Inurnment will be at the Glenwood Catholic Cemetery.

A memorial fund has been established.

Mardrana Lee Hofmeyer, daughter of Brenda Lee (Kooiker) and Gregory Vaughn Hofmeyer, was born on January 24, 1967 in Spencer, Iowa. As a young child she lived in the Vinton and Iowa City, Iowa areas until 1981, when she made her home at the Glenwood State School in Glenwood, Iowa.

Mardrana received her education at the state school as well as training by the Resource Center staff and Waver Home staff, from the Helen Keller Institute for the Blind, an organization founded to enable individuals who are blind, visually-impaired, deaf-blind and/or have combined hearing-vision loss, to live, work and thrive in the community. Mardrana loved sensory items and enjoyed outings in the area.

Mardrana was loved by her former teacher, who became her legal guardian, as well as by all the staff who worked with her through the years. While living at the Glenwood Resource Center and the Family Support Services Waver Home in Glenwood, Mardrana touched many lives and will be missed by all who knew her.

Mardrana passed away on August 18, 2014 at Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa at the age of 47 years, 6 months, and 25 days and was preceded in death by her parents.

Mardrana is survived by her guardian LaVonne Renshaw of Glenwood; and the staff and friends at the Glenwood Resource Center and Waver Home.
