Margaret Fisher

Margaret Jeannet Fisher, one of eight children of Augustus and Mary Geracy) Balstrera, was born at her parent's home in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on February 11, 1922. She attended Catholic School in Milwaukee, and following school worked at the Milwaukee Gas and Light Company. Margaret met Duane Delbert Fisher from Glenwood, Iowa who at the time was stationed at the Great Lakes Naval Base. Margaret and Duane were married at the St. John's Cathedral in Milwaukee on November 15, 1947. They made their home in Milwaukee and Margaret began work at the Sealtest Ice Cream Company. In 1962, Margaret and Duane moved to their home near Pacific Junction, IA. Their marriage was blessed with a son Duane Augustus Fisher, and Margaret enjoyed her new role as a full time mother and homemaker. She was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Glenwood, the Fraternal Order of Eagles, and the VFW Auxiliary in Plattsmouth, NE. Margaret was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary. One of Margaret's enjoyments was baking for family and friends. Margaret's health forced her to move to the Glen Haven Home in Glenwood on September 7, 2001. Margaret and Duane had been married 54 years when Margaret died at Glen Haven on August 4, 2002. She had attained the age of 80 years, 5 months, and 23 days.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Anthony Balstrera and Steven Balstrera; sister Joyce Barney; brothers-in-law Casey Sansone and Don Gardner.
Margaret is survived by her husband Duane of Pacific Junction, IA; son Duane Fisher and his wife Un Mi Fisher of Pacific Junction, IA; sisters Angie Sansone and Jeannie Garder both of Milwaukee, WI; brothers Joe Balstrera and his wife Eunice of Clearwater, FL and Augustus Balstrera Jr. and his wife Janice of Milwaukee, WI; granddaughter Cheyenne Lee Fisher of Pacific Junction; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
