Marty Slater

Marty Slater, 61, of Denison, IA passed away on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at the CHI Health Immanuel Hospital in Omaha, NE. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 28, 2025 at the Loess Hills Funeral Home in Glenwood with Rev. Dan Siepker officiating. Burial will be at the Martin Chapel Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held prior to the service at the funeral home beginning at 1:00 p.m. Loess Hills Funeral Home in Glenwood is caring for Marty and his family.
Martin John Slater, one of five children of Lawrence and Mary (Mason) Slater, was born on July 29, 1963 in Denison, IA. He worked various jobs in Denison most recently working at American Protein.
Marty enjoyed hunting and fishing, was an avid moral mushroom hunter; enjoyed road trips blaring Tom Petty with no destination in mind; frequenting the area casinos; watching the figure 8 races.
Marty is preceded by his parents; granddaughter Oaklynn;and brother Bradley.
Marty is survived by his son Sandon Slater and his wife Hollie of Glenwood; daughter Haylee Hinrichs and her husband Brandon of Ida Grove, IA; grandchildren Noah, Alicyn, Layton, Dawson; sisters Cheryl Upton and her husband Roger of Manilla, IA and Sandy Schiltz of Denison, IA; brother Kenneth Slater of Denison, IA; other relatives and a host of many friends.
