Mary Barton, 99, of Glenwood, IA passed away on Friday, December 22, 2023 at the Glen Haven Village in Glenwood, IA.

Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 20, 2024 at the Loess Hills Funeral Home in Glenwood. Burial will be in the Glenwood Cemetery. Loess Hills Funeral Home in Glenwood is caring for Mary and her family.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be given to Mills Masquers or the Bloom Senior Center in her memory.

OBITUARY by family
It is with great sadness that we inform our family and our friends of the passing of Mary Lorraine Barton on December 22, 2023 in Glenwood, Iowa at the age of 99 years. Mary was born in Weeping Water, Nebraska on January 12, 1924 to Hattibelle and Fred Allen. She went to the University of Nebraska in Lincoln where she met and later married Terence Randall Barton her husband of 51 years. They had three children: Mary Susan Barton, Robb Allen Barton and Terence Patrick Barton. Once her children were in school, Mary became a social worker for Mills County.

Mary enjoyed gardening (flowers, fruits, vegetables), playing the organ for local churches and for the local Mills Masquers Theater, socializing at the Bloom Senior center, playing cards with a local bridge club, and camping with her husband and children.

Mary Barton is preceded in death by her parents, sister, Marjorie Stimpson, her husband, and both sons. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Susan Brewer, three grandchildren, Christopher Johannsen, Cory Johannsen and Miranda Brewer Parrish, and great grandson, Ronald Wayne Macon Parrish.
