Max Richard Bisbee - 1929-2022
Max was born to Bret Beem and Mabel Marie (Reichstein) Bisbee on February 7, 1929, on a farm east of Macedonia, IA. He passed away on February 24, 2022, at the age of 93 years at CHI Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs, IA. Max grew up in Macedonia with brother Rex, and sisters Marilyn, and Dorothy. He attended Macedonia school and graduated in 1947. In high school, he was in every sport - catching for the baseball team was his love and was even on a team when he was in the Army. He attended Iowa University for one semester until he was drafted into the United States Army during the Korean War. Before he left for the Army, he and Luanne Clark were united in marriage on September 15, 1950. Max was then based for two years in Ansbach, Germany, as a radio operator. He loved his time in the military and was offered a promotion to sergeant and two more years in Germany, but Luanne had a different idea. Max and Luanne were blessed with three children, Nancy (Mark) Raney, Barbara (Wayne) Pedersen, and Jeff. After returning to Iowa, he began farming with his father-in-law which was a legacy that Max was able to pass on to his son and grandson Evan.
Max was a long-time member of the Macedonia United Methodist Church and a member of the Macedonia American Legion. He took great pride in being a member of the American Legion and was the Commander for many years. He was always part of the Memorial Day services, many military funerals, or whenever a color guard was needed. Max and Luanne celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2000 and had been married for almost 60 years when Luanne passed away in 2010. They had many friends and enjoyed trips with close friends Richard and Joan Scott.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Luanne, his brother Rex, sister Marilyn (Gene) Bolton, and granddaughter Cari Farver. He is survived by children, Nancy (Mark) Raney, Barbara (Wayne) Pedersen, Jeff Bisbee, grandchildren, Adam (Tara) Farver, Denver, CO, Sarah (Ben) Holt, San Jose, CA, Evan Bisbee and Alysia Hess, Macedonia, IA, Chad (Jessica) Pedersen, Minneapolis, MN, Laura Pedersen and Taylor Mouser, Ankeny, IA, great grandchildren, Max (Sara) Farver, Luke Farver, Liam Farver, Anna Jo Holt, Andrew Holt, Jeffrey Holt, and many nieces and nephews. Max had many, many special friends in his life that he missed dearly.
Max and Luanne can now polka and two-step forever!
