Michael Techau, 55, of Silver City, IA passed away on Saturday, April 30, 2022 at the Oakland Manor in Oakland, IA. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 7, 2022 at the Loess Hills Funeral Home in Glenwood with Rev. Luke Kuenzli officiating. Burial will be in the Mineola Cemetery in Mineola, IA. Visitation with the family present will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 7, 2022 at Loess Hills Funeral Home in Glenwood. Michael Scott Techau, 55 of Silver City, IA, passed away April 30, 2022 at the Oakland Manor in Oakland, IA.
Michael was born November 22, 1966 at Council Bluffs, IA, the middle son of Fred and Dorothy (Boyce) Techau. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church in Mineola, IA. He grew up in Silver City and graduated from Glenwood High School with the class of 1985, where he participated in track and band, playing the same saxophone that his father Fred played. He then attended Iowa Western Community College for two years, graduating with a degree in diesel mechanics. He worked for Kaiman's Grocery while attending college. Then he worked at the Co-op in Silver City for 15 years, eventually becoming a feed specialist. Many times he would climb up the grain bin legs to do repairs. He always said he didn't like doing that, but no one else wanted to. Mike then went to work as a farm laborer, while also farming a farm that he purchased. Later on, his dad was ready to retire, so Mike took over farming the home place, also.
Mike is survived by his parents, Fred and Dorothy Techau; brothers, Jeffery (Charlotte), Arroyo Grande, CA, and James (Monica), Aurora, CO; nephews, Scott, Zachary and Aiden Techau; niece Kelly Techau; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
