Nadine Nelson

Nadine Nelson, 97, Hastings, passed away on December 6, 2015 at the Tabor Manor in Tabor, IA. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 11, 2015 at the Loess Hills Funeral Home in Malvern, IA with Reverend Carl Phillips officiating. Burial will be at the Emerson Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 10, 2015 at the funeral home.

Memorials are directed to the family.

Nadine Good Nelson, the youngest of five children of Charles Edward and Dora Ellen (Miller) Parcell, was born on August 21, 1918 in Macon, Missouri. Her family lived in Arkansas until her father died suddenly and her mother moved the family to Henderson, Iowa, where her sister lived. Her family later moved to California and after living there for a few years, they moved back to Iowa to live in Henderson.

Nadine and Rollie Adam Good were married on June 15, 1935 at the KMA Radio Station in Shenandoah, Iowa. They made their home in Hastings, Iowa and their marriage was blessed with six children, Gary, Ronald, Linda, Randy, Connie, and Philip. Nadine and Rollie had been married 41 years, when Rollie passed away on June 11, 1977.

Nadine and Paul Oliver Nelson were married on September 17, 1982 at Nixa, Missouri. They made their home in Hastings and Nadine's family grew to include Paul's children, Robert Nelson, Russell Nelson, William Nelson; and Lynne Riordan and their families. Nadine and Paul were married almost nine years when Paul passed away on September 6, 1992.

Nadine cooked at the old Hastings School and worked at the Union Carbide plant in Red Oak, Iowa for a number of years. She enjoyed traveling with her family on vacations and looked forward to get-togethers at her Hastings home with her family and friends. Nadine loved to read and enjoyed gardening, cooking and baking. She was a wonderful wife, mom, grandma and great grandma. Nadine was loved and respected by her family and by many in the community.

Due to declining health, Nadine moved to Linnwood Estates in Glenwood, Iowa in 2009. She later moved to the Tabor Manor Care Center in Tabor, Iowa.

Nadine passed away at the Tabor Manor on December 6, 2015, at the age of 97 years, 3 months, and 15 days. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Rollie Good and Paul Nelson; infant daughter Patricia Ann Good; grandchildren, Todd Good, Troy Good and Lisa Hollinger; brothers, Gwynn Parcell, Jack Parcell, and Earl Parcell; sister Wilma Knight; stepsons, Robert Nelson and Russell "Lee" Nelson; and brother-in-law Clarence Nelson.

Nadine is survived by her children, Gary Good and wife Georgene of Roanoke, TX, Ron Good and wife Suzanne of Oak Hills, CA, Linda Schilb and husband Norman of Clarinda, IA, Randy Good and wife Sue of Peoria, AZ, Connie Turner and husband Otis of Pacific Junction, IA, and Phil Good and wife Martha of Glenwood, IA; 17 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren; and 8 great-great grandkids; step son William Nelson; step daughter Lynne Riordan; several step grand and great grandchildren; extended relatives; and many friends.
