Nancy Jean Prien

Nancy Jean Prien, one of four children of Marguerite Winifred (Hunt) and Dean Carroll Carver, was born on September 9, 1946 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. She grew up and attended schools in Council Bluffs. Nancy began working as a waitress in Council Bluffs at age 20, then started driving truck until 1995, when she switched to truck dispatching. In 2000, Nancy opened her own brokerage firm out of her home and operated the business until 2008.

Nancy and Richard Dennis Prien were married on April 3, 1971 in Papillion, Nebraska. They made their home in Silver City, Iowa and their marriage was blessed with a son, John David and a daughter, Bobbi. Richard's daughter, Kathy Jo, completed their family.

Nancy enjoyed working and caring for her children and found much joy in being a "grandma".

Nancy passed away on April 10, 2012 at Hospice with Heart in Glenwood, at the age of 65 years, 6 months, and 27 days. She was preceded in death by her parents; son John Prien; and sister Dianna Hertzberg.

Nancy is survived by husband Richard Prien of Silver City; daughter Bobbi Johnson and husband Tony of Silver City; step daughter Kathy Jo Prien of Audubon, IA; daughter-in-law Charlynn Imes of Omaha, NE; grandsons, Cody Prien of Silver City, Jeremy Prien of Des Moines, IA, Jared Prien of McHenry, IL, Michael Brown of Ringling, OK, James Brown, Jr., of Glenwood, Jeff Williams Jr., Brian Williams; and granddaughter Amber Williams, all of Omaha; brothers, Richard Carver and wife Pam of Plattsmouth, NE and Michael Carver and wife Carol of Hamburg, IA; other relatives and friends.

A memorial fund has been established.

Interment in Silver City Cemetery.
