Perry Rief

Perry Rief, 88 of Pacific Junction, IA passed away on Monday, October 9, 2023. Celebration of Life gathering will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 14, 2023 at the Loess Hill Funeral Home in Glenwood. Burial will be held at a later date at the Malvern Cemetery. Loess Hills Funeral Home in Glenwood is caring for Perry and his family.

OBITUARY
Perry Rief, 88 of Pacific Junction, IA passed away on Monday, October 9, 2023.
Perry Donald Rief, son of Sievert Edward and Dorothy Grace (Smith) Rief, was born in Council Bluffs, IA on July 18, 1935. He graduated from Logan High School in Logan, IA. He worked various jobs following graduation and then started working for Union Pacific Railroad. He was drafted and served in the United States Army from April 9, 1958 until April 6, 1960.
Perry and Shirley Ann Hineline were married on July 2, 1958 in Lincoln, NE. Perry worked for Union Pacific Railroad. They lived near Missouri Valley, IA and in 1965 moved to Omaha, NE.Their marriage was blessed with two children, Rhonda Lou and Jeffrey Scott. In 1977, the family moved to Glenwood, IA, then in 2006, they moved to their home near Pacific Junction, IA.
Perry enjoyed anything that had to do with trains, John Deere tractors and collecting cars. He and Shirley enjoyed camping on the weekends at their farm near Blair.
Perry is preceded by his parents; wife Shirley; brothers, Floyd Rief, Richard Rief, Douglas Rief, and Victor Rief.
Perry is survived by daughter Rhonda Richter and husband Phil of Malvern, IA; son Jeff Rief and wife Brenda of Glenwood, IA; grandchildren, Austin (Hannah), Dustie, Brittany (Brian), Kaleb (Anna), Ethan, and Noah; 5 great grandchildren, Blair, Lane, Gage, Letty and Perri Ann; sister Rosemary Pond of Logan, IA; other relatives and a host of many special friends.
