Phillip Stanley Jr. "Rick"

Phillip “Rick” Stanley Jr, 87, of Glenwood, IA passed away on Saturday July 26, 2025 at the home of his eldest daughter, Liz Boston. A time of gathering with the family will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m on Wednesday, July 30, 2025 at the Loess Hills Funeral Home in Glenwood. Private family burial will be in the Thurman Cemetery in Thurman, IA. Loess Hills Funeral Home in Glenwood is caring for Rick and his family.

Rick was born on June 16, 1938 in Thurman, IA, the son of Phillip and Ruby Margaret (Hankins) Stanley. He graduated from the Bartlett High School in Bartlett, IA in 1956. Rick attended Parsons College in Fairfield, IA for one year. He worked for Allied Chemical for 30+ years. Rick also drove truck for Vinton Equipment, hauled grain for Stouders, and drove a bus for the Glenwood School District until his retirement.

Rick and Glee Charlene Tillman were united in marriage on June 13, 1958 in Thurman. They made their home in Bartlett until 1962 when they moved to Glenwood, IA.

Rick was a charter member of the Eagles Club. He enjoyed dressing up as Santa for all the kids and family. Rick enjoyed baseball, softball, bowling, golf and fishing.

Rick was preceded in death by his parents, Phillip and Ruby; beloved wife Charlene in 2018; and brother Jack Stanley and wife Maureen.

Rick is survived by his children, Bill Stanley and wife Laurie of Sioux Falls, SD, Eric Stanley of Glenwood, Liz Boston and husband Jim of Glenwood, Patricia Ring of Plattsmouth, NE, and Steve Stanley and wife Amy of Plattsmouth, (the BEEPS!!); 9 grandchildren, Clarissa, Nathan, Angela, Shane, Amanda, Ashley, Heather, Sara, and Lexi; 9 great grandchildren, Tyler, Addy, Josh, Lathan, Dalton, Janet, Dominic, Blaze, and Willow; brother Tom Stanley and wife Camille of Auburn, NE; brother-in-law Perry "Butch" Tillman of Sidney, IA; several nieces and nephews; as well as other relatives and many friends.
