Robert Bernal Reimer

Robert "Bob" Reimer, 79, of Council Bluffs, passed away on December 13, 2016 at CHI Health Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 19, 2016 at the Loess Hills Funeral Home in Carson with Pastor Adam Magill officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service. Interment will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Hancock.

Robert Bernal Reimer, one of two sons of Henrietta Birgetta (Jacobsen) and Bernal Edward Reimer, was born in Atlantic, Iowa on June 19, 1937. Bob grew up in Hancock, Iowa and graduated from the Hancock High School in 1956. Following school, Bob worked on the family farm and served in the U.S. National Guard, based in Atlantic, Iowa, from1959 to 1965.
Bob and Laura Mae England were united in marriage on May 22, 1966, in Griswold, Iowa. They made their home in Red Oak, Iowa and later moved to a farm near Hancock where Bob farmed. In 1976, the couple moved to Oakland, Iowa. Bob began working in 1982 for the Pottawattamie County Road Dept. in the Bridge Division and continued for 18 years until his retirement in 1999.

Bob and Laura Mae were members of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Avoca, Iowa. Their enjoyments included camping and dancing. Laura Mae, a great musician, would often play her saxophone for the Krisinger Band at many dances. The couple especially loved to dance the polka, and would travel all over the area to find a good polka band.

In 2008, Bob and Laura Mae moved to Council Bluffs, Iowa to be closer to their doctors. They had been married 43 years when Laura Mae passed away on July 16, 2009. Bob continued to live in Council Bluffs and among his favorites, were playing cards and meeting with his coffee club at McDonalds and later, the Railway Inn.

Bob passed away on December 13, 2016 at the CHI Health Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs, at the age of 79 years, 5 months, and 6 days. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Laura Mae; brother-in-law, Ellis McCunn; and nephew, Patrick McCunn.

Bob is survived by his brother, Larry Reimer and his wife Mary of Atlantic; brother-in-law, Dr. B.J. England of Griswold, IA; sister-in-law, Mary Lou McCunn of Red Oak; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
