Roger Dean Durick

Sgt. Major Roger Dean Durick, Ret., age 90 of Glenwood, Iowa, passed away on July 10, 2012 at Jeannie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Private services with military honors will be held at the Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, California. There are no local services. Loess Hills Funeral Home of Glenwood assisted the Durick family with arrangements.

Roger was one of two sons of Hazel (Hoyt) and Samuel Durick, born on March 4, 1922 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He graduated from high school in 1940. Roger enlisted and served in the United States Coast Guard for 5 years. He enlisted and served in the United States Army for 18 years.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents; and brother Samuel "Jerry" Durick.

Roger is survived by his wife Jean Durick of Glenwood; daughters and son-in-law, Cheryl Manning of Washington State, Penny and Ed Walther of Marysville, Washington, and Becky Saad of San Diego, California; sons and daughter-in-law, Sam and Charlotte Durick of Fallbrook, California, and Mike Durick and special friend Jane Knight of Tucson, Arizona; step daughter Carolyn Gann of Bishop, California; many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins; and a host of special friends.
