Ruth E. Mcdonough

Ruth E. McDonough, age 95, of Hastings, IA, passed away at the Montgomery County Hospital in Red Oak, IA, on Thursday, May 28, 2009.

Ruth Elnora McDonough, the oldest of six children of Dorothy Hattie (Leib) and Jerry Hamilton Kellar, was born on June 22, 1913 in Barberton, Ohio. She grew up in Barberton and graduated from high school in 1932.

Ruth and Thomas McDonough were united in marriage in Akron, Ohio in 1954. They made their home in Akron and had been married over 30 years, when Thomas died in 1985.

In 1988, Ruth moved to Hastings, Iowa to live with her sister, Geraldine Pavkov and her husband William. She attended the Hastings United Methodist Church and enjoyed being with the Pavkov family. Ruth loved to cook and sew and made many handmade quilts for all her nieces and nephews, including her great and great-great nieces and nephews.

Ruth passed away on May 28, 2009 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital in Red Oak, Iowa and attained the age of 95 years, 11 months, and 6 days. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Thomas; brothers, Horatio Kellar and wife Zella, and Louis Harold Kellar and wife Joy; sister-in-law Helen Kellar; and niece Susan Kay Perkins.

Ruth is survived by her brothers, Glen Kellar of Barberton, OH, and Gerald Kellar and wife Swizerlyn of Eunice, LA; her sister Gerrie Pavkov and husband Bill of Hastings, IA; niece Ruth Ann Messinger and husband James of Glenwood, IA, and nephew William John Pavkov and wife Ann of Hastings; many great and great-great nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

A memorial service and burial will be in the Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Akron at a later date.
