Skye Elaine Mcmillin

Skye Elaine McMillin, daughter of Amy Elaine Hollesen and Richard Rhea McMillin, was born on March 4, 1991 at Jennie Edmondson Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa. She grew up in the southwest Iowa and was a junior at East Mills High School in Malvern, Iowa.

Skye loved all animals, especially her dog, "Missy" and her dad's horse, "Colonel." She enjoyed playing volleyball and attending other school sporting events where she was the loudest at every game. She was very outgoing; a friend to everyone, and always offered to help teachers with projects. Skye helped tutor students during summer school and was excited to be a part of the planning for the first East Mills Junior/Senior Prom. She liked riding 4-wheelers and loved eating at Applebee's and having fun with her friends.

Skye passed away at the Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska, on January 26, 2008, of injuries sustained from a car accident. She attained the age of 16 years, 10 months and 22 days. Skye was preceded in death by her grandfather Michael Hollesen; great grandfathers Melvin Longcor, Claus Hollesen and Jesse Abbott; and great grandparents Robert & Norma McMillin.

Skye is survived by her mother Amy Hollesen and her friend Marty Stang of Council Bluffs; father Richard "Rick" McMillin and his wife Kim of Stanton, IA; her younger brother Jesse McMillin, also of Council Bluffs; grandmother Joyce Longcor of Oakland, Iowa; grandparents Robert and Linda McMillin of Red Oak, Iowa; great grandmothers Bonnie Longcor of Oakland, Iowa, Ednamae Hollesen of Council Bluffs, Iowa, and Catherine Abbott of Tabor, Iowa; step sisters and brother Makayla Hudson, Kaylie Putnam, and Bryan Putnam all of Stanton; special friend Gregg Greene of Malvern, IA; aunts, uncles and cousins; other relatives and friends; and the East Mills Class of 2009.

Interment was in the Carson, Iowa Cemetery.
