Stukely "Stu" Swanson

Stukely Lee Swanson passed away June 17, 2010 at the Hospice With Heart House in Glenwood, Iowa. He was born September 3, 1940 in Lake City, Iowa and the son of Ione (Westcott) Swanson and Charles Edward Swanson.

Stu graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in Council Bluffs, Iowa in 1958. He married Peggy Jean McCoy on September 9, 1961 and the marriage was blessed with two children, Darlene and Wayne. Stu retired from the Iowa Department of Transportation's Council Bluffs office following 32 years of service. He later worked part-time for Tri-Star of Glenwood as their parts man. Stu loved spending time with family and friends and was a strong advocate for the Glenwood Senior Center where he currently served on the Board of Directors.

Stu was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law John Burke. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Peggy Swanson of Glenwood; daughter Darlene Swanson of Alabama; son Wayne Swanson and wife Carol of Tabor, IA; sister Cynthia Burke of Council Bluffs; brother Donald Newman-Mumford and wife Sandra of Collins, MO; four grandchildren; a great granddaughter; a niece and nephew; neighbors and many friends.
