Suzanne McCready, 89, of Macedonia, IA passed away on Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at the Country House Residence in Council Bluffs, IA. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 13, 2024 at the Loess Hills Funeral Home in Carson with Pastor Terry McClain officiating. Visitation with the family present will be held one hour prior to the funeral on Monday beginning at 10:00 a.m. Burial with military rites will be in the Macedonia Cemetery. Loess Hills Funeral Home in Carson is caring for Suzanne and her family.

Suzanne McCready, 89, of Macedonia, IA passed away on Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at the Country House in Council Bluffs, IA.
Suzanne Jane O’Brien, daughter of John Michael and Katherine Elizabeth (Lamouree) O’Brien, was born November 11, 1934 in Albany, New York. She graduated from Albany High School in 1952. She enlisted in the United States Navy on March 17, 1953. She was stationed on Treasure Island Naval Base in San Francisco. She met Thomas LeRoy McCready of Macedonia, IA who was also stationed on Treasure Island Naval Base in San Francisco, CA. Sue and Tom were united in marriage on February 20, 1954 at the San Francisco United Church of the Missions. After an honorable discharge from the Navy, Sue and Tom returned to Macedonia where Tom worked for his father at the Implement Company. The couple’s marriage was blessed with three sons, Shoan, Kevin, and Brien. Sue operated Flowers by Suzanne for 10 years and then as a clerk for the United States Postal Service for over 25 years serving the Carson and Macedonia area.
Sue was a member of the of the Macedonia United Methodist Church, Ruby Smith American Legion Post 648, and was very active in the clubs throughout the community.
Sue is preceded in death by her parents; husband Tom in 2001; sisters, Nancy Bonesteel and Virginia Quackenbush; brother Michael O’Brien; and sister-in-law Joan McCready.
Sue is survived by her sons, Shoan McCready and his wife Melinda of Macedonia, Kevin McCready of Macedonia, and Brien McCready and his wife Ronda of Carson; grandchildren, Eric McCready, Rachel Brincks, Jared McCready, Kristie McCready, Kylie McCready and Bailey Walvoord; 9 great grandchildren with another on the way; brother Dennis O’Brein and his wife Karen of Schenectady, NY; sister Gail Sherman of Palmetto, FL; brother-in-law Kevin Quackenbush of Duxbury, MA; sister-in-law Beverly O’Brien of Florida; other relatives and a host of many friends.
