William "Bill" Seher

William Bowman Seher, one of eight children of Naomi Louise (Bowman) and Harry Phillip Seher, was born on September 7, 1937 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He grew up in Philadelphia and graduated from high school and joined the Air Force. Bill served in the Air Force from 1956 to 1962 and also served in the Navy Reserve from 1980 to 1982. He was proud of his service to his country.

Bill met Betty Jane McKern while stationed at Offutt Air Force Base in Bellevue, Nebraska. They were married in 1961 in Council Bluffs, Iowa and they were blessed with a son, William Kenneth.

Bill loved his wife Betty, son Bill and grandchildren, Amanda and Ken. He enjoyed spending time with his entire family. He was an avid fan of the Phillies baseball team, the Philadelphia Eagles pro football team and the Nebraska Cornhusker football team. He loved cars, motorcycles, and especially enjoyed "Game Day", playing cards, and going to the casinos to play the slots.

Bill passed away at his home in Omaha on April 17, 2011, at the age of 73 years, 7 months, and 10 days.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Naomi Bowman and husband Otto; brother Thomas Seher; sister-in-law Annette Seher; brothers-in-law, Roy Longenaker, Howard McKern, Jack McKern, and JC David Carter; and nephews, Brian McKern and Robert Bowman.

Bill is survived by wife Betty Seher of Omaha; son William Seher and wife Tammy of Fairbury, NE; granddaughter Amanda Seher of Omaha; grandson Kenneth Seher of Lincoln, NE; brothers, Harry Seher and wife Evelyn of Sicklerville, NJ, Kenneth Seher, and David Seher, both of Philadelphia, PA; Bruce Seher and wife Abby of Cherry Hill, NJ; sister Ruth Longenecker of Milton, PA; sisters-in-law, Eileen Seher of Cherry Hill, NJ, Carol Carter of Glenwood, IA, Joan McKern of Henderson, IA; and Rose McKern of Essex, IA; brother-in-law Richard McKern and wife Kathie of Rulo, NE; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
